A remarkable incident happened, shaping the very foundation of Public Matters Lebanon.
It all began with a mother and her two daughters; the eldest was, at that time, a mere three years and seven months old, who sat securely in her car seat one afternoon, when the distant sound of an ambulance siren was heard.
Curiously, the toddler strained her tiny neck to catch a glimpse of the speeding ambulance, only to realize it was nowhere to be seen.
Confused, she turned to her mother and innocently asked, "Mom, why is the ambulance stuck in traffic?" Moved by her daughter's question, the mother embarked on a transformative journey alongside her little companion and together, they decided to initiate an impactful awareness video campaign, Pave Way For The Ambulance that went viral across Lebanon and was screened on all local television networks and in movie theaters.
After that unexpected communal support, Public Matters Lebanon was born in 2017 as a registered NGO (no. 549) in the Lebanese Republic, Ministry of Interior and Municipalities, embracing two goals as guiding principles : Developing Empathy and Leadership in children.
